Abstract
This study aims at re-examining William Golding and Cormac McCarthy’s novels exploring the main reasonsfor paradise lost on earth. Instead of adopting the habitually reductive readings of these characters, this study draws on Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytical theory to recommend a new reading of this type of character presentedbyGolding and McCarthythroughacute perception of human corruption which leads to ruin the paradise of world. Furthermore, by analyzing the two novelsLord of the Flies and The Road, this study traces the novelist writing views in their depictions of the human corruption.
This study is falls into five chapters in addition to the introduction and the conclusion. The introductory chapter focuses on the conceptual background of human corruption and literature review.
Chapter two examines the theoretical framework, Sigmund Freud psychoanalysis theory, literature and psychoanalysis. Besides, this part also focuses on William Golding a prize winner and Cormac McCarthy’s changeable life.
Chapter three places the spotlight on William Golding’s novel Lord of the Flies (1954), and analyzes the cause of paradise lost that brought by human corruption.Lord of the Fliesreflects the plight of a man who became evil in an isolated island because of his evilness, which brings him a destruction of environment and loses of innocence.The division of this chapter depends on William Blake’s choice of titles for his poetry collections, which are Innocence and Experience.

Chapter four deals with Cormac McCarthy’s novel The Road(2006), this novel issue the way of life through the unknown journey and how the two characters suffer from the ruin of moral values in their environment, it also examines the clashes between good and evil.
