Abstract
In this thesis, the effect of vibration due to machine foundation on reinforced sandy soil is studied. The frequency used in machine foundation is 10,15 and 20 Hz then fixed to 20Hz. The sandy soil is brought from Karbala Governerate/ Al-Ukhaider. The relative density of sand used in model is 50% in dry state. The steel container has dimensions of 50*50 cm and depth of 55 cm. The square footing used is made from steel with thickness of 5 mm with dimension (100*100) mm. The parameters studied in this thesis are the effect of types of reinforcement which are (plastic grid, fine plastic grid, steel grid, fine steel grid and galvanized steel grid). Effect of length of reinforcement which are (B,2B,3B,4B and 5B). In addition to effect of number of reinforcement layers which are 1,2,3,4 and 5 layers. Then the effect of the spacing of layers of reinforcement was studied using two spacing (0.25B, 0.5B). In addition to the displacement amplitude, velocity, acceleration and settlement during the test. The study showed that the best type of reinforcement is using a plastic grid, where reduce the acceleration in the rate of (54%). The best number of layers of reinforcement is five layers, which reduces the settlement by 32%. The best length of the reinforcement is 5B, which reduces the acceleration in the rate of (37%). The best spacing for reinforcement are (0.5B), which reduced the settlement by (60%).
